Immersion with Mrs Nua

Our topic for this term is bigger, better, faster and stronger. Team 5 are doing rotations that teach us different things about our topic. They were imagination, creativity, practicality, innovation and discovery.

We went to imagination first with Mrs Lagitupu, then creativity with Ms Tito, practicality with Mr Barks, innovation with Mr Harris, and then Discovery with Mrs Nua.

In the morning my class, room 21, went to Mrs Nua’s class for immersion. Our subject we were learning was DISCOVERY. We were discovering how pressure stops a egg from cracking when you drop it. To do this we had to make a device that will hold the egg in one piece as we drop it. First we had to draw our design on a piece of paper. We were only allowed to use 2 straps of tape that were about 1m long, 10 straws, 5 ice block sticks, and 5 rubber bands.

When we finished making our model it was time for the fun part, dropping the egg. After 3 groups it was now my turn to test my invention. I was nervous at the start and I started to shake. Then I dropped it but unfortunately it cracked and the yolk slid out. It was a lot of fun but disgusting at the end.

When immersion was finished for the day I walked back to class and told Mrs Lagitupu what immersion was all about. Discovery was really fun and I learnt a lot about keeping an egg safe with only 2 straps of tape, 10 straws, 5 ice block sticks, and 5 rubber bands.
