Tamaki Tech

On the 14TH of February 2011 the year 7-8s left school at 8:30am and we went to Tamaki College for technology. It was also really hot and people were moaning. We were talking to some people that we knew who were walking past us.

I was in the 7A group and we were doing wood work. Our teachers name was Mr Grundy but he said we can call him Sir. First we had to come up with 5 ideas for what we were going to make. I came up with a chair, a car, a train, a dressing table and a computer desk. We came up with some safety rules too. They were: 1.Walk don’t run! 2.This is no play area. 3.When “Sir” calls for attention stop what you’re doing and pay attention. 4.(Chisels) Don’t wave it around, don’t put your thumb on top of it, put it on the tip and there were many more.

Sir showed us some of the things that others made last year. He drew a gumboot lifter in 3D and it was a very smart idea. At the end of tech I learnt a lot about different kinds of things you can make with small amounts of timber.
