Cell Phones

The first person to invent cell phones was Dr Martin Cooper who invented the cell phone in April 3rd 1973. The first call he made was to his rival, Joel Engel, Bell Labs head of research.

You can use cell phones for texting, calling, music, internet, entertainment and the main thing we use cell phones is for communication. Some of the brands are Nokia, Vodafone, Telecome, and 2 Degress. Some children get a cell phone when they’re about 10 years old.

This is what cell phones looked like back in the day to the year of 2011.

Immersion with Mrs Nua

Our topic for this term is bigger, better, faster and stronger. Team 5 are doing rotations that teach us different things about our topic. They were imagination, creativity, practicality, innovation and discovery.

We went to imagination first with Mrs Lagitupu, then creativity with Ms Tito, practicality with Mr Barks, innovation with Mr Harris, and then Discovery with Mrs Nua.

In the morning my class, room 21, went to Mrs Nua’s class for immersion. Our subject we were learning was DISCOVERY. We were discovering how pressure stops a egg from cracking when you drop it. To do this we had to make a device that will hold the egg in one piece as we drop it. First we had to draw our design on a piece of paper. We were only allowed to use 2 straps of tape that were about 1m long, 10 straws, 5 ice block sticks, and 5 rubber bands.

When we finished making our model it was time for the fun part, dropping the egg. After 3 groups it was now my turn to test my invention. I was nervous at the start and I started to shake. Then I dropped it but unfortunately it cracked and the yolk slid out. It was a lot of fun but disgusting at the end.

When immersion was finished for the day I walked back to class and told Mrs Lagitupu what immersion was all about. Discovery was really fun and I learnt a lot about keeping an egg safe with only 2 straps of tape, 10 straws, 5 ice block sticks, and 5 rubber bands.

A Day At The Beach

“Wake up wake up!” my mum said to me because today we were going to the beach. It was 10:00 am in the morning and I just remembered that my cousins and I were going to the beach.

On a Saturday morning my cousins and I went to the beach to have a swim at Point England reserve. It was a great thing to do because this was the only fun thing I did during my holiday. I got dressed into shorts and a t-shirt then I was off to my cousins house. We walked through a bush walk because they were too lazy to walk the long way. When we got there the tide was out.

As we were walking towards the water I slipped on the rocks and got all dirty. I was so angry because my cousins were laughing at me so I immediately through mud at them. It began to turn into a mud fight instead of a swim. We were so dirty that we jumped in the water and washed all the mud off.

By then we were freezing cold and we wrapped ourselves in our towels. We took the short cut back home because we were not in the mood for walking.

My Zinger Pinger Tyson

My Zinger Pinger is the best pet in the world because it can sing songs and dance. My pets name is Tyson. It can also eat human food and drink drinks too. It dresses in cool clothes and drives cars. It likes to draw and cook on a barbecue. It is as tall as a tree and it likes to go to Carrot Island. When we go to Carrot Island he shakes the tree and carrots fall on his head. His favourite coloured carrot is yellow and orange. My pet lives in a dark cave that is filled with his favourite food, fish and chips. Whenever he sees a cat he hops away because it might jump on him.
